In the middle of the Atacama Desert in Chile, 46 miles south of Antofagasta, you will find a very peculiar sculpture. ‘The Hand in the Desert’ by Chilean sculptor Mario Irarazabal.
Known for its art about human suffering, this massive sculpture makes you feel lonely, especially in its empty and isolated space. It is a popular place for tourists, but visitors are asked to respect it and not vandalize it, as the problem of graffiti has arisen recently.
Located in the northwest of China’s Hunan Province, these amazing limestone peaks are covered in green and often shrouded in fog. A cable car takes visitors to Huangxi Village, where there are many trails to enjoy the stunning views of Tianzi (‘Son of Heaven’).
These mountains inspired the floating mountains in the movie ‘Avatar’. In 2022, a new visitor center was opened, which provides interactive exhibitions about the geology and cultural importance of the region.
This beach is covered by a type of seaweed called Sueda, which turns bright red in the autumn. Located thirty kilometers southwest of Panjin, China, these tidal wetlands are an important nature reserve for migratory birds.
Only a small portion of the beach is open to the public, but it can be explored through a wooden walkway that extends to the sea. Red Beach may be one of the best secret beaches in China. Hurry up here before the crowd arrives.
