The island of Socotra is a place that is unlike any other place. Isolated from the African mainland six million years ago, it feels like a scene from a sci-fi movie. Megalithic stone jars are scattered throughout Jiang Khoang Province in Laos in groups ranging from one to one hundred. A working theory is that huge cylindrical jars were used in ancient funeral ceremonies, although according to local legend the jars were used to make rice wine for giants.
