The island of Socotra is a place that is unlike any other place. Isolated from the African mainland six million years ago, it feels like a scene from a sci-fi movie. The island is home to incredible and unique plants and trees that you won’t find anywhere else. Two of the most unusual are the Ancient Dragon’s Blood Tree and the Bulbs Bottle Tree. It is definitely one of the most unique places in the world!

Megalithic stone jars are scattered throughout Jiang Khoang Province in Laos in groups ranging from one to one hundred. A working theory is that huge cylindrical jars were used in ancient funeral ceremonies, although according to local legend the jars were used to make rice wine for giants.

 

 

Northern Laos was the subject of a massive air bombardment by the United States, and it has been relatively recently cleared of some areas and declared safe for visitors.
