Located in the northwest of China’s Hunan Province, these amazing limestone peaks are covered in green and often shrouded in fog. A cable car takes visitors to Huangxi Village, where there are many trails to enjoy the stunning views of Tianzi (‘Son of Heaven’).

These mountains inspired the floating mountains in the movie ‘Avatar’. In 2022, a new visitor center was opened, which provides interactive exhibitions about the geology and cultural importance of the region.

This Highland Park is home to the only volcano in Panama and offers a completely different wildlife experience from the lowland forests. Cloud forests cover the slopes and cooler temperatures support unique species that you won’t find anywhere else in the country. This is one of the best places to spot bright quetzal, especially during the breeding season. You’ll also find signs of hummingbirds, tapirs, and even pumas in more remote areas.

Travel to the summit of Vulcan Baru with a steep overnight trail that rewards you with views of both oceans on a clear morning. But you don’t need to summit to enjoy the park. Short trails around the west side provide access to bird life and orchids without elevation. Base yourself in a boquet or sero punta for easy access. This is where the wild clouds of Panama meet.

On the northern shore of remote Etigran Island, 82 kilometers from the coast of Alaska, there is a strange tourist spot. The jawbone, ribs and spine of the giant whale get stuck to the ground, creating a haunted path.

People think that the site dates back to the 14th or 15th century, but no one is sure if it was a sacred meeting place for local tribes or just a place for mass whale hunting. What we do know is that it is one of the strangest places in the world.
